DIY Projects to tackle this Spring | General

Spring is here, and it’s the time most of us start some home maintenance. We tend to socialize more in the warmer weather and want to ensure our homes are ready to welcome our guests. If you’re looking to spruce up your home, why not tackle some of these outdoor DIY projects and make your home the best place to be.

Fix your fence (wall)

If the fence/wall is looking worn, bring it back to life with a fresh coat of paint. A fresh coat of paint will change the whole aesthetic feel of your garden. If you have a fence that needs painting, a spray gun will make the job quicker.  If you have any panels that have been damaged, repair them.

Paint exterior features

Before our rainy season starts, it’s a great time to get any outdoor painting done, like your walls, gutters, windows, and doors. If you have any outdoor wooden furniture, treat it with varnish to protect it from the sun and rain.

Clean your gutters

In recent years we have experienced downpours like no other with many floods in some areas, in addition to the occasional hail storm. Spring is a good time to clean out your gutters to ensure they don’t get clogged up when the rain comes and cause potential damage to your home. And while you are up there, check your roof tiles for any cracks that can cause leaks in your roof .

Fertilize your lawn

Spring is a good time to fertilize your lawn and put on lawn dressing. This will promote growth and ensure green grass for summer.

Plant something new

Spring is a great time to get planting. Give your gardens pops of color by planting some seedlings and flowers. You could even plant some herbs and fruit trees. Remember to take note of where you plan on planting the flowers/plants (whether shade or direct sunlight) as this will affect the type of plants you buy to ensure they thrive in your garden.

Get crafty

Your garden is a way for you to reflect something about you – add something that will make you smile every time you see it – whether you build a bird feeder, add a water feature or some of those garden ornaments.

Have fun in your garden this summer and make your home the best place to be.
